Anjali's Story
This week, we want to introduce one of our newer girls to join the Girls Dream Home, Anjali Naskar.
Anjali is a 10-year-old girl from the Khalpar Slum who came to live in the Dream Home in January of 2020. Anjali’s mother, Balika, ran away when she was 15 years old and got married. Her husband, Bapi, would abuse her badly. Many times Balika would escape to her mother’s house but she would just go right back to her abusive husband. In 2019, Bapi started to have an affair and attempted to kill Balika. Finally, she had enough and left her husband and once again returned to her mother’s house. This time, she filed a complaint with the police.
Balika was completely broken and unsure of what to do with her two children Anjali, and her brother. Her meager wages as a maid servant were not enough to carry the weight of the family but she had to work. While she was at work, Anjali would be abused by men in the slum. Balika knew Anjali needed to be safe, so she asked for her daughter to live at the Dream Home.
Today, Anjali is safe.
The Girls Dream Home is the home girls like Anjali deserve, a home where they can feel safe.
We want to continue to bring more girls, like Anjali, out of sexual abuse and trauma and provide somewhere safe for them to live. At the Dream Home, girls have access to food and clean water, counseling, medical care, safety and education. All the basic things that they are not able to receive in the slums and villages due to the extreme poverty and abuse they encounter every day.
We currently have 37 beautiful girls in the Dream Home and we have the capacity to more than double the number of girls living there! We can double the number of girls to be moved out of abuse and neglect and into love and safety.
We can only do this with partners like you.
Thank you! Thanks to all of those that have supported Seed India whether it is through prayer, trips or giving. You are making a huge difference in the lives of these girls, and so many more.
Continue to pray for the girls while they are on lockdown - pray that the Dream Homes can open back up on July 1 and Anjali and the other girls can return home.
